In modern times, artist have been creating excellent vessels for the ceremony making free use of diverse materials. Many tea utensils demonstrate originality in their forms and design as \u201cexpressive utensils\u201d that convey the makers\u2019 ideas, or as utensils \u201clikened\u201d to something else by users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presenting tea utensils by modern masters including bearers of important intangible cultural property (living national treasures), this exhibition illustrates changes in forms and styles of beauty during the Taisho (1912\u20131926), the Showa (1926\u20131989) and the Heisei (after 1989) periods.
