As of the time of writing (March 2025), the extensive collection has almost 14,000 objects including paintings, prints, watercolors, drawings, sculptures (three-dimensional objects), photographs, videos, calligraphy, and related materials. While the collection is centered on modern Japanese art, the museum also collects contemporary artwork from overseas.
