Inspired by the Western counterpart, Japanese art also adapted itself to the new era.<br>Many works produced under the circumstances contain expressions other than \u201csimple beauty,\u201d such as decadence, sensuousness, grotesqueness, and eroticism. Unforgettable Masterpieces<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This exhibition illustrates \u201cnegatives\u201d of beauty in modern Japanese art with works full of mysterious charm, including Uemura Shoen\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Flame<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Flower Basket<\/em>, and Kaburaki Kiyokata\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Enchanted Mermaid<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Full of Deep, Strange Works<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The show presents many works with intense strangeness and beauty that burns into your brain, including Kainosho Tadaoto\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Side Comb<\/em>, Tachibana Sayume\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Anchin and Kiyohime<\/em>, and Hada Teruo\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Blood Pond<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Mysterious Stories That Capture Your Mind<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Stories such as the Legend of Anchin and Kiyohime and&nbsp;<em>The Saint of Mt. Koya (Koya Hijiri)<\/em>&nbsp;inspired various artists to develop them in their works. Imaginary stories and those presenting mysterious women are attractive also to us, as they were in the Meiji and Taisho periods (1868\u20131926).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4.
