Crafts Gallery, The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo is moving to Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture in summer 2020 after quitting its operation in Tokyo on February 28, 2020.
We are most grateful for your support for as long as 42 years.
Our gallery is going to start afresh as National Crafts Museum.

School & Teachers

Touch&Talk for Schools

All programs were finished.

The content of the program will be devised in accord with the theme of the exhibition and the school’s study plans. The program is carried out Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays from 9:30 to 16:30 and, on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:30 to 12:30 and 15:30 to 16:30. (Please inquire about holding programs on museum closing days.)

Cooperating with curricular development and topics

All programs were finished.

We provide reference materials to teachers considering creating curricula, topic-focused materials, or workshops related to the crafts. Teachers are also invited to consult with us about the content of such educational efforts.

 

Preparatory training

Let’s warm up before a grade, class, or school club makes a visit to the Crafts Gallery. This programs is designed for a fuller experience of viewing and appreciating works at the Crafts Gallery.

 

Give Touch&Talk a Try!

We are happy to provide program expertise for teachers who want to try Touch & Talk instruction at the Crafts Gallery. We will make available works and reference materials in the Let’s Touch It Section on the day your class visits the museum.

Workshop on appreciating craft works

All programs were finished.

These workshops on appreciating craft works focus mainly on works being displayed during the Crafts Gallery for KIDS+ADULTS exhibition. Details of the next workshop will be posted when they are available.

Training for teachers

All programs were finished.

These training programs with the content and number of class hours planned to suit the specific purpose of each program. A group of ten or more teachers may request a training program.

The Crafts Gallery programs are carried out only during exhibition periods. Please contact us at least a month in advance if you wish to participate. Please understand that the program you are interested in may not be available on the day or at the time you request.
