東京国立近代美術館 | National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo

Greetings

The collection at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo (MOMAT) primarily provides an overview of the history of modern and contemporary art in Japan from the end of the 19th century to the present. The museum organizes a wide variety of exhibitions where the public can enjoy various artworks.

The museum, located in Kitanomaru Park near the Imperial Palace, is celebrating its 70th anniversary in December 2022 with the Secrets of Important Cultural Properties exhibition that will be held in March 2023. The Crafts Gallery, previously housed in Kitanomaru Park, relocated to Kanazawa in 2020 where it has embarked on a new path as the National Crafts Museum.

We will continue to organize the MOMAT Collection exhibitions that highlight the wide variety of works in the collection, special exhibitions with specific themes that also include artwork from overseas, as well as learning programs focused on interactive art appreciation programs. With these initiatives, we hope that the art museum will be utilized as a place where everyone can spend quality time, discover new value and ideas, and enjoy interactions with other people.
