In MOMAT’s series of online curator talks, we present new ways of viewing and enjoying works from the museum collection. In this edition, we look at Tada Minami’s work Chiaroscuro (1979). As the work is installed in the museum’s forecourt, it may be familiar to those who have visited in the past. Made of stainless steel bent into a conical shape, the sculpture was the first work in one of Tada’s most notable series. By considering light and the material of the work, we can discover some of Chiaroscuro’s charms.
