A Premium Selection from the Collection This Fall

For the first time in seven years, three Important Cultural Properties by Kaburaki Kiyokata—Tsukiji Akashi-cho Town, Shintomi-cho Town, and Hama-cho Gashi Zone—will be on view in the MOMAT Collection exhibition. Family Day 2026 

［October 8–16 only］

Our popular annual family event is back—and this year it has been expanded to eight days! Children are welcome to laugh, cry, and be themselves, so families can enjoy the museum without worrying about disturbing other visitors.

This year also marks the debut of a special presentation for children and adults alike, ‘Seeing’ Stories, in Gallery 10 on the third floor. A diverse selection of works related to the theme of storytelling will be presented alongside playful features that offer clues for interpreting the works, as well as summaries of the stories behind them. On weekdays during the event, the MOMAT Guide Staff (museum volunteers) will be on hand to explore the exhibition together with visitors.

During the three-day holiday weekend from Saturday, October 10 through Monday, October 12, we will also offer interactive programs that are perfect for children making their first visit to an art museum. We will provide additional amenities, including a nursing room, diaper-changing areas, and rest areas. Outside in the museum’s front garden, the L’Art et Mikuni food truck will serve refreshments, and picnic blankets will be available to borrow, making it easy for families to relax and enjoy their visit.

Interactive programs will be offered in Japanese only.

Reservations for a specific date and time are required for admission from October 10 through October 12. Please purchase tickets or make reservations online through the dedicated webpage. 

Reservations and ticket sales: September 8 at 10:00 AM through 9:00 AM on the day of your visit. 

Tickets and Reservations

Reservations are required even for visitors eligible for free admission or discounts, as well as holders of complimentary tickets. Visitors eligible for discounted admission should purchase their tickets at the museum ticket counter on the day of their visit.

Online ticket sales may close early. Same-day tickets will be available at the museum ticket counter only if space remains.
Tickets may be canceled until 9:00 AM on the day of your visit.

Group reservations are not accepted.

Admission on the Day of Your Visit

You may enter at any time during your reserved time slot.

The museum is expected to be particularly busy immediately after the start of each time slot, and you may have to wait to enter. We recommend arriving a little after the beginning of your reserved time slot.

There is no limit on how long you may stay. Same-day reentry is permitted.

Delicious Fall Treats from the Food Truck!

Starting Friday, October 23, the L’Art et Mikuni food truck will be serving up special treats in the museum’s front yard.

In collaboration with the special exhibition “Takehisa Yumeji—An Artist Who Defined His Era,” the food truck will offer a selection inspired by Japan’s Taisho era (1912–1926), including a nostalgic cream soda and sweet red bean and cream sandwiches.
