3.2.2 | Administrative/ Biographical history | The Mudo Gallery was a gallery for rent operated by Kobayashi Jun (1922–2006) between 1960 and November 2002. Solo exhibitions by Arakawa Shusaku, Inaba Haruo, Ito Takayasu, and Wakabayashi Isamu were held at this gallery. The gallery was named by the painter Yamamoto Kyujin. Starting in 1954, before the opening of the gallery, Kobayashi Jun was involved in the organization and operation of an exhibition called Seijitsukai with the help of Imaizumi Atsuo. Afterwards, in 1958, the Roppongi Gallery opened in Roppongi (Tokyo). In 1960, the gallery was moved to Ginza 1-Chome, where it was renamed Mudo Gallery. In 1976, the gallery was moved to the 7th floor of the Gallery Center Building in Ginza 6-Chome (Tokyo); then in 1995, it was moved yet again to Shinanomachi Maya Building 2 in Shinjuku-ku (Tokyo). The gallery closed in November 2002. | ||

On March 2, 2017, the Art Library received 5 boxes full of materials as donations from the family. On August 9, 2018, an envelope was donated, and on March 10, 2019, yet another box full of materials was gifted to the Art Library. | ||
