About the Exhibition

Trying to bring out power in materials, and weaving together techniques and expression, craft pieces sometimes show unexpected appearances in textures or details. In those parts that one can discover only when coming close to the piece lurk the secrets of the artist’s expression. Focusing on five modern artists including Suzuki Chokichi (1848–1919), this show tries to get to the truth in the details of their crafts.
