Sweden-Japan 150th Anniversary: Ingegerd Råman
Date
Location
Crafts Gallery, The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo
About
Ingegerd Råman (b. 1943 in Stockholm) is one of Sweden’s most renowned designers as well as a potter. While extremely simple in their colors and shapes, her glass and ceramic tableware features consistent, noble beauty and reveals her sincere viewpoint as a user.
In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Sweden and Japan, this exhibition, which was first held at Nationalmuseum Sweden in 2016, is the first major opportunity in Japan to introduce Raman’s diverse activities including her recent project with Kimura Glass (2017). From designs for Ikea to collaboration projects with Swedish architects, this exhibition will present about 180 works of tableware and interior goods selected by Råman, who regard herself as a “form-giver”.
