Shino Type by SUZUKI Osamu,a Living National Treasure: In commemoration of his ninetieth birthday

About

This exhibition focuses on the career and the “present” of SUZUKI Osamu (b. 1934), one of the Bearers of Important Intangible Cultural Properties—popularly known as “living national treasures”—in the field of shino type. While respecting tradition, the ceramist established his own unique style by trying his hand at “Shino” ware, which was once thought to be fired only in wood-fired kilns, using gas kilns. Celebrating his ninetieth birthday in 2024, the solo show provides an opportunity to experience the essence of his art through outstanding works spanning his entire career.
